As someone who loves gardens, I have an affinity for hydrangeas. I adore them in every color and size, and I consider myself a bit of a garden fairy! Recently, I discovered some gorgeous hydrangeas at a local nursery called ‘de Boschhoeve.’ This farm-turned-nursery also sells homegrown plants, so naturally, I visit frequently!
Although I’m thrilled with my own garden, some plants didn’t survive the harsh winter we experienced in Europe. However, this gives me an opportunity to create new planting plans. After all, a garden is never finished; it’s a living work of art. As a garden designer, nothing makes me happier than redesigning. So, while a winter like that can be useful at times, I hope it doesn’t become a regular occurrence.
Gardening is not just a hobby for me; it’s a passion that has taught me patience, perseverance, and the beauty of nature. There’s something magical about watching a seed grow into a flourishing plant, and I love sharing that joy with others. That’s why I started organizing gardening workshops in my community. It’s amazing to see how people who thought they had a black thumb can transform into green thumbs with just a few tips and tricks!
One of my favorite things about hydrangeas is that they’re relatively low maintenance and can thrive in both sun and shade. They also bloom for a long time, from late spring to early fall, so they provide a lot of color and texture to any garden. I especially love the pink and blue varieties, which can change color depending on the acidity of the soil.
Overall, I believe that gardens are essential for our wellbeing. They provide a sanctuary where we can escape the stresses of daily life and connect with nature. Whether you have a small balcony or a vast backyard, there’s always room for a little bit of greenery. So, let’s get gardening!
Lots of love & light, C xox
